SIFT GROWS SECURITY SERVICES TEAM THROUGH MERGER
Sydney, NSW, May 28, 2007 – Australian information security services firm SIFT today announced the merger of the Safecoms Secure IT consulting and services business with SIFT, positioning the combined firm for continued growth in the Asia-Pacific information security services market.
SIFT and Safecoms are both leading providers of information security consulting, intelligence and training services, with operations throughout Australia. The merger is a strategic fit and significantly strengthens SIFT's position in the Asia-Pacific region.
SIFT's CEO and co-founder Nick Ellsmore will continue to lead the combined company, which services over 100 clients including a majority of the ASX top 20 companies, along with State & Federal Government agencies, and multi-national corporations.
Safecoms will initially operate as a division of SIFT, with full integration of systems and processes occurring in Q3 2007. The current operational and staffing structure of the Safecoms consulting business will remain unchanged, with the addition of access to SIFT's resources.
Mr. Ellsmore said the move provided clear value for both sets of clients. "The integration of the SIFT and Safecoms businesses provides benefits through economies of scale, highly complimentary staff skill sets, a very similar client profile between the firms, and a rock-solid commitment to integrity and quality service.
"We are looking forward to building on the valuable and trusted relationships Safecoms has built with its clients," Mr. Ellsmore said.
Safecoms Managing Director Nick Gifford said the merger would add immediate value to the Safecoms client base. "It enables us to broaden our service offerings and scale up our ability to execute large numbers of projects in parallel," he said. "SIFT has proven capabilities and an impressive list of large satisfied customers. We are very excited to join forces with a dynamic and innovative leader in the Australian information security market."
The merger is the latest in a wave of consolidation rolling through the information security services market in Australia. Earlier this month, a majority stake in Adelaide-based Vectra Corporation was taken by CDC Corporation, and it was recently announced that telecommunications company Verizon intends to acquire Cybertrust.
Through the integration of the SIFT and Safecoms businesses, SIFT is positioned as a key player in the Australian information security services market. "As industry consolidation rolls through, SIFT provides a consistent and trusted provider to Australian business in the face of this change," Mr. Ellsmore said.
