Ethics

SIFT has a high ethical standard for all its employees, and this standard shows through in all our dealings with Clients, and each other. A SIFT consultant is a trusted advisor, and all actions must viewed in light of the requirement to support our clients and provide them with the best advice possible.

Dealing with Intellectual Property

SIFT declares that all confidential and proprietary information provided to or obtained by our employees, or of which our employees become aware:

  • Will be kept strictly confidential;
  • Will not, without the prior written consent of the Client obtained in each instance, be disclosed or divulged to any person or other third party in any manner whatsoever;
  • Will not, without the prior written consent of the Client obtained in each instance, be photocopied or reproduced in any way;
  • Will be safely and securely stored when not in use; and will remain the absolute and exclusive property of the Provider.

Dealing with Clients

In dealing with clients, SIFT consultants will:
  • Set service priorities: focus services where they can generate their greatest return for our clients.
  • Be flexible and adaptive to the Client’s needs.
  • Not take an arbitrary position on anything.
  • Emphasise developing true user self sufficiency.
  • Measure success in terms of the benefits to the organisation.
  • Recognise planning as a critical business function. Use all available resources to evaluate the successes of current efforts, directions for the future and what’s needed to move forward.
  • Avoid any perceived or actual conflict of interest.

Dealing with Each Other

In dealing with each other, SIFT consultants will:
  • Be willing to assist each of the other consultants in the discharge of their responsibilities.
  • Not ever speak disparagingly of other SIFT consultants to anyone.
  • Not ever profit at the expense or embarrassment of any of the other consultants.
  • Face all client problems objectively and dispassionately.
  • Not take an arbitrary position on anything.
  • Avoid destructive criticism.
  • Share knowledge and information freely, not create “islands” of knowledge.

Dealing with Software

SIFT recognises that the unauthorised duplication of copyrighted computer software violates the law and is contrary to our standards of conduct and business practice. We recognise the following principles as the basis for preventing its occurrence within our organisation:
  • We neither permit nor tolerate the making or use of unauthorised software copies within our organisation under any circumstances.
  • We provide in a timely fashion sufficient quantities of legitimately acquired software to meet all our software needs.
  • We comply with all licensing terms and conditions regulating the use of any software we acquire.
  • We enforce strong controls within our organisation to prevent the making or use of unauthorised software copies. These include effective measures to verify compliance with these standards and appropriate disciplinary action for any violation of these standards.
  • We inform current and future employees of their legal responsibilities in relation to software theft.
