Training
In consultation with National Office for the Information Economy (NOIE), SIFT has developed a number of vendor and solution neutral information security training courses.
These courses are consistent with industry standards including AS 7799, ISO 17799 and ACSI 33, and where applicable, focus on the unique aspects of the Australian security landscape, including regulatory and legal issues. The courses are run Australia wide and have been attended by a wide range of organisations within both the public and private sectors.
SIFT’s training courses are all developed internally, and can be tailored to meeting the specific needs of our clients. Available courses currently include:
- Foundations of Information Security [1 day]
- Foundations of Secure Application Design [1 day]
- Foundations of Penetration Testing [1 day]
- Foundations of Wireless Security [1 day]
- Introduction to Encryption & Public Key Infrastructure [2 days]
- Information Security: Tactical Information Control [3 days]
As a result of their review of the Information Security: Tactical Information Control (ISTIC) course material and participation in a previous course, NOIE has provided the following assessment:

In addition to our existing training courses, SIFT can customise courses for an individual industry, such as telecommunications, health, utilities or banking & finance, or indeed for individual organisations. Courses can range from information security awareness for a broad cross-section of the organisation, through to specific niche topics for technical specialists or security/audit team members.
